The breakouts had settled two years earlier. The brown marks they left behind had not, and she had spent a lot of money on brightening products that did very little.
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation on richly pigmented skin needs care, because the same trauma that treats it can cause more of it. We patch tested, treated conservatively at shallow depths, spaced the sessions six weeks apart rather than four, and put her on a tyrosinase-inhibiting routine and a daily SPF 50 for the whole course. The home half of this is not optional and does most of the work.
The photograph is at five months from the first session. The marks are clearly lighter and there are fewer of them. Several are still visible and the tone is still uneven, which is a fair five-month result rather than a disappointing one.
Individual results vary. Deeper skin tones need conservative settings and a longer course; treating aggressively here does not speed anything up, it causes the exact problem we are treating.
Every photograph on this page is of a real client of the clinic, taken in standardised lighting at a fixed distance, unretouched and unfiltered, and published only where written consent for publication is on file. Consent can be withdrawn at any time and the case is removed the same day.
A case study describes one person’s course of treatment. It is not a prediction. Outcomes depend on anatomy, skin type, age, medical history and how closely aftercare is followed, and no treatment we offer is permanent or guaranteed. What a consultation can tell you is whether a treatment is likely to help you — which is where every plan here started.
