How the course ran
Coarse facial hair on the chin and jawline, Fitzpatrick V skin, and one previous course elsewhere that had left two small patches of post-inflammatory pigmentation.
We patch tested and treated exclusively with the 1064 nm Nd:YAG, which passes through epidermal melanin far more safely than the alexandrite wavelength, at settings we built up gradually across the first three sessions rather than starting high.
Eight sessions, five weeks apart, over ten months. The earlier pigmentation faded during the course with sun protection and was not made worse.
She now returns roughly twice a year for maintenance, which is expected: an underlying hormonal driver means new follicles continue to appear, and we said so before the first session.
